My very first seedling has obtained its very first scape! This morning I was walking around my garden and was checking up on all my daylilies. Many of the daylilies have grown scapes due to the warm weather. So, when I saw all of these scapes on my other flowers, I decided to look at my seedlings. When I was brushing through Lv-005’s foliage I identified its first scape. I can’t wait to see it bloom!

This May my friends from school and I are flying down to Gautemala City to work in an orphanage. We are also going to be doing construction in a Mayan Village. Our mission is to enlighten the children with the good news of Christ and teach them the important leadership skills needed for success. While on the trip we will  be climbing two volcanoes. It should be a lot of fun and a great experience.

As spring as continued on my snowball viburnum are begining to bloom and the daylily fans are growing tall and thick. Each day a new plant explodes into bloom. I have some blue berries that are in bloom and have recently purchased some grape plants and strawberry plants. LV-005 is doing fanatasctic. My other seedlings are also looking very well. The iris plants in my yard are about to burst into bloom and my maple tree is getting its leaves. I hope to post some photos soon!

Leaping into Spring!

March 9th, 2010

The flowers in my garden have just started to peak through the ground after a very cold winter. This is the first week that we will have no tempetures below freezing and I think the plants know it too. Most of my daylilies are putting up fresh, little, green fans. Plus, most of my seedlings from last year survived the winter. I know that I have atleast one fan from each cross. I plan to be posting more as the spring turns into summer. I am crossing my fingers that LV- 005 will bloom this year. It looks as though it will.

Getting the Seedlings Planted.

September 24th, 2009

After a good hard week of 15 in of rain, I finnally am getting a chance to plant my new seedlings in the ground or in my raised bed. I started growing about half in the raised bed and the rest in trays. I planted Passion District X Velvet Eyes, Purple Portrait X David Arthur, and Heaven All Day X Leprechaun Eyes yesterday. I will plant the rest this weekend. Sorry for not posting lately. Been busy with my first year of highschool.

If any of you are wondering about how the show went, it went GREAT. No. It went AMAZING! I won 4 yellow ribbons, 4 red ribbons, 15 blue ribbon, eight purple ribbons, and best in show for the youth division. My seedling is doing great and has put up a new fan. I have also built a raised bed for all my new seedlings. I will have pictures of everything soon!!!

The seedlings pictured below have made alot of growth in the past few weeks! The larger one is a foot tall and the smaller one is about four inches tall. They are loving the rain… but I wish we had more sun.
